Troels Poulsen

"Coffee is a crucial element for me, and I have always been curious about it. I rarely use the word education in this, but my learning curve has been carved out of this curiosity, and through sharing ideas and knowledge with others."

Tell us something about you.

My name’s Troels and I come from Copenhagen. In 1999, when I started working at Café Europa, I discovered that there’s more to coffee than a black, hot liquid. I’m currently the co-owner of Kontra roastery, where I carry out many tasks.

What about your hobbies?

I often go hunting. The solitude and deepness of a forest are something I couldn’t do without. I also love travelling – getting to know new people is fundamental to me.

A day without coffee...?

I don’t need coffee to have a good day. I have other ways to make my day happy.

You’re good at...?

Shooting a moving target with a rifle.

What’s your favourite coffee spot?

I have two – one is in the middle of the forest, when I’m alone; the other one is where we taste coffees at Kontra.
